Valérie Vandegaart was called to the Brussels Bar in 1998, where she started her professional career. She devoted herself immediately
to public and administrative law, including environmental and planning and zoning law.

From 2003 to 2013, she was in-house counsel in the energy sector, first at the Belgian electricity transmission network operator, then at a major energy producer and provider. Valérie acquired specific and operational experience in energy law, especially with respect to regulated activities, market mechanisms and renewable energy.

Since June 2016, Valérie is Compliance Officer of Balansys, a joint undertaking founded by Creos Luxembourg (50%) and Fluxys Belgium (50%). Balansys acts as a balancing operator for the area of the Luxemburg and Belgian integrated H-gas and the Belgian L-gas markets.

With an extensive knowledge of the operational realities of regulated market operators, Valérie provides advice combining theoretical excellence with practical relevance, especially in energy and environmental law.
